The Ascent

You vs you.

The Ascent is a Christian-founded movement helping men rebuild identity, direction and discipline so they can live intentionally and walk in the purpose God has given them.

A generation of men has lost its footing.

Men are not short of information or motivation. They are short of a foundation: a settled identity, a direction worth the cost, and the daily discipline that turns conviction into a life.

The Ascent exists to help them find it again, and to lead this generation back to Christ.

Identity before activity

Who a man believes he is decides what he does when nobody is watching. So we begin there, not with the to-do list.

Purpose is walked, not found

Purpose is an assignment from God, walked out day by day in fellowship with Him. It is not a target you discover by a deadline.

Responsibility is the way up

No one else can climb for you. You vs you is not about beating other men. It is deciding to take ownership of the man you are becoming.

A man walks alone along a mountain path into thick fog. The path disappears into the mist ahead of him.

For the man who knows he is built for more, but cannot yet see the way.

Some men have drifted. Some have been stuck in the same place for years. Some are doing well on paper and still feel lost. What they share is this: no settled sense of who they are, no clear direction, and no steady practice of faith and discipline to carry them forward.

The Ascent is for the man who is ready to stop circling and start climbing: to seek God for direction, rebuild his identity on His Word, and act with faith, courage and discipline, one honest day at a time.

  • A lack of direction
  • Uncertainty about purpose
  • Confusion about identity
  • Feeling lost or stagnant
  • No personal foundation
  • Difficulty living intentionally
  • Inconsistent discipline

If you recognise yourself in more than one line, this was built for you.

Three questions, climbed in order.

Vision brings clarity. Foundation builds the character to carry it. Execution turns conviction into consistent action. The fog lifts a stage at a time.

Where am I going?

Vision

Vision begins with seeking God for clarity and direction. It’s learning to recognise and discern the ideas, gifts and convictions He has placed on your heart, seeing beyond your present circumstances, and developing a clear vision for the life you’re called to live.

This is not goal-setting with a verse attached. It is fellowship first: time in the Word, time in prayer, and the patience to let God shape what you want. Trust the Lord with all your heart, acknowledge Him in all your ways, and He will make your paths straight. The fog lifts a step at a time. You will see more of the terrain ahead long before you see the summit, and that is enough to walk by.

Proverbs 3:5–6. James 1:5.

Who must I become?

Foundation

Foundation is about rebuilding your identity through the Word of God. It means confronting limiting beliefs, replacing old mindsets with biblical truth, and developing the character, convictions and confidence needed to carry your vision. Before your life changes outwardly, transformation begins within.

Most men try to change their habits while keeping the same beliefs about themselves. It does not hold. Scripture describes something deeper: putting off the old self and being renewed in the spirit of your mind, being transformed rather than conformed. Your worth is settled in Christ before you have achieved anything. From that ground you can look honestly at the lies you have believed, the shame that has been running the show, and the man you were when it worked.

This is the hardest terrain on the climb and the most personal. It is where principles get established, character gets built, and a man becomes able to carry the vision he has been given.

Romans 12:2. Ephesians 4:22–24. 2 Corinthians 5:17.

How do I make it real?

Execution

Execution is where faith becomes action. It’s building a personalised operating system for your life, developing discipline, creating accountability and learning to persevere through difficult days. It’s about taking consistent, intentional steps to bring the vision into reality, even when circumstances aren’t ideal.

Faith does not remove the need for responsibility. Faith without works is dead, and Hebrews 11 is a list of men who moved before they could see the end of the road. Abraham went out not knowing where he was going. Execution is walking like that: consistent, intentional action, calculated risks, trusting God for the part you cannot see, and acting despite the fear.

The climb gets steeper here. A plan built around your real week, a plan for the bad day, accountability that does not let you drift, and the perseverance to keep going when the first attempt fails. This is where vision and foundation become visible in daily decisions.

James 2:17. Hebrews 11:8. James 1:12.

How the three connect.

No one else can climb for you. The opponent is not the world, the job or the past. It is the man you were yesterday. You vs you.

Explore The Ascent Method

Four men walk the mountain path together at dusk; one carries a lantern.

You were never meant to walk alone.

Inner Ascent is the free brotherhood of The Ascent: men of faith climbing the same mountain, at different points on the path. It is where encouragement is real, accountability is kind and honest, and no one has to pretend he is further up than he is.

Two are better than one, because if either falls, the other lifts him up. Iron sharpens iron. That is not a slogan for the community, it is the reason it exists.

  • Brotherhood and genuine relationships
  • Faith and encouragement
  • Accountability that keeps you honest
  • Growing together, one week at a time

Walk it one to one with Jonathan-David.

The Ascent Method is a personalised, one-to-one programme. The current way in is The Ascent Sprint: thirty days working directly with Jonathan-David on the three questions, built around your real life and your real week.

  • Clarity and directionSeeking God together for the direction you are called to pursue, and writing it down in your own words.
  • Reconstructing identityRebuilding who you are through God’s Word, and facing the beliefs that have held you back.
  • Faith and characterDeveloping the convictions and the steadiness to carry what you have been given.
  • Practical implementationA personalised operating system for your life: the keystone routine, the plan for the bad day, the thing you have been putting off.
  • Accountability and encouragementA call every week, messages between calls, and a one-line check-in from you every day.
  • Consistent actionProgress tracked honestly in your own log, and an honest written result at the end.

A man a few steps ahead, still walking it.

Jonathan-David smiling

Jonathan-David founded The Ascent out of his own climb, not from a stage. At 127 kg, every attempt to change failed on the same two things: perfectionism and the fear of change.

What worked was giving it to God, deciding to do whatever it took, and tracking every day in public for three months. He reached 91 kg. The same pattern, faith first and then disciplined action, is what he walks with each man in the Method.

The Sprint is a beginning, not a guarantee. God’s purpose is revealed through fellowship with Him and walked out over a lifetime; thirty days is where that walk gets serious.

The traveller stands on the summit at sunrise with his arms open; the golden path winds through the fog far below.

You vs you.

Vision.Foundation.Execution.

The fog clears, the landscape opens, and the man who began in the mist is standing in the light. The climb is yours to make, and you were never meant to make it alone.
